Harry Murray's mash up of the Pheasant Tail, Hare's Ear and Zug Bug. Change colors as your mood strikes you; tie it up and down the size scale for all kinds of fish. Most pics I've seen use a trimmed mallard flank wing pad, like the Zug Bug, which I really hate; found some feathers on the back of the bird, around the shoulder blades, that I can use untrimmed. Amount of difference this makes? somewhere around zero.

hook - Dai Riki 280 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
tail - pheasant tail
rib - small wire gold
body - dubbing hare's ear
hackle - Indian hen back
wing pad - mallard

That looks really "fishy", Scott, and I mean that in a good way.

Tne whole "Rapidan" series is a great one for Smallmouths. Very buggy looking. :)

I stole a copy of your fly photo. This is gonna be my new wallpaper on my iPad. ;)

Simply Outstanding!

Question - is the body dubbing a custom blend? Really nice.

Ray,

You're welcome to use it; I'm flattered. No custome dubbing (just Hareline); I think a few orangish fibers from another bag found their way in.

Scott

Scott, that tie is awesome. I see that pattern catching anything anywhere. I will take your advise and tie some large and small. Thanks again for posting.
