Thanks Ruard and Ron and gig. Much appreciated. ;)

Vern - I did not weight the hook. The wool yarn soaks up water so it sinks nicely, but very slowly. It fishes nicely in the top 2 feet of the water column. It rises to the surface at the end of the drift, or when you raise the tip of the rod. I am well pleased with how this pattern fishes.

Ray, what a brilliant update. I'm always a sucker for bug pics and that shot of the fly wet is really compelling. It seemed a tad garish (no offense intended of course) in the dry pic and it really blended nicely when wetted. Cool post.

Ray, Howdy;
letumgo wrote:Hank - I think it is just the name of the yarn. Chris' site mentions that the guides around Salt Lake City Utah use this color yarn to tye Killer Bug patterns. See link below (scroll down roughly 2/3rds of the way down the page):

Hank - I can't wait to see your flies! The yarn is very easy to work with, and creates nice "buggy" flies. I think you are going to like this stuff.

Thanks!!! :D

I was guessing the hackle was a bleached (ginger) Hungarian Partridge. The color looked a bit tan to me, but now that I see your recipe I think it was the brown ostrich Herl I was noticing. Brilliant choice. It compliments the fly beautifully.

You are going to be very happy with this fly, as will the fish!

Thanks for the inspiration. ;)
