What is the fur?

Looks very much like a section of Australian Possum tail. The staple length will be quite long, a very dark gun metal blue/black in colour and have a determined "crimp" to the fibre? The "leather section of the hide will be roughly 5/8" wide and the fibres longer in the centre than the edges?
So Ariel, as swap co-co-ordinator, you are giving the OK for the rib/tag allowance to other patterns?

Jeff I don't know what you man by Rib/Tag allowance to other patterns. But if you are asking if "you can tie any type of fly you'd like with the Roscoe envelope materials" the answer is yes. This is a free for all swap not limited to flymphs just this once.

Yes, that was pretty much it. If you read back through the last page or so there were a couple of questions about what "extra" is allowed to be introduced/included with the "package contents" in order to complete the flies for the swap.
Seeing as how it was me that neglected to include such important things....... I suggested it might be OK, but seeing as how you came up with the whole swap idea...... you should have final say on what else can be used to complete a swap set of flies.

It's a free for all... do as you'd like. I thought it might be fun to use the envelope as the 'mystery basket'. Just have fun.

So, please don't look too closely or judge too harsh. I'm just working out a pattern and fooling around with the materials. Some experiments.
Obvious:
Partridge and Orange Yarn
New Technique for me:
Orange and Spun Opossum
Big Caddis dry or wet:
Orange and Opossum Nest and Wing - opossum on heavily waxed orange yarn on the Clark's block for the body, the rest from the opossum hide
Least likely:
Hen and Spun Opossum Fat Body

[/URL]
And in the spirit of the Killer Bugs:
Orange Killer Bug and Opossum The yarn is waxed and opossum spun on the Clark's block, then tied in so the taper lands at the front before returning the yarn cord to the bend and tied off.
I'll have something nailed down in a day or two and get them in the mail. Until then...feel free to poke holes in these early attempts.
Cheers.

Wow! This looks like a fun swap. Great stuff.
William - Your "least likely" one is my favorite. The ostrich herl body work is fantastic.
