Re: Podcast

Just to keep the chatter flowing... I agree with DUBBN on one thing.. being able to see the line where it enters the water and recognizing what is a strike is something that I first learned bass fishing with a plastic worm. My father-in-law could drown a purple worm over structure for hours and caug...

Re: Day Drinking Caddis and beer review.

oops.. my reply didn't make the cut the first time.... Don't want you to think no one appreciates your beer chugging skills. I pretty amazed that the Utah crowd has allowed that beer label to actually be distributed in the state... and maybe it isn't... i've not seen it anywhere before. But, being a...

Re: Podcast

Chug... my decision to go mono depends mostly on water I'm planning to fish, and wind. Unless i'm using heavy jigs and fishing deep, trying to fight the mono rig and casting into a wind just gets old in a hurry. If fishing this way, I carry a rod set up with the mono rig. If I'm thinking I may want ...

Re: Podcast

DUBBN... mono rig... I'm a fan of Troutbitten, watched and read a lot of Dom's stuff. I've used his system quite a bit and prefer a lighter rig than the 20#butt section. I've at times gone down to 5# which some would say is Spanish Nymphing. There's a section of the Metolius in the winter where the ...

Re: Generic Caddis Pupa

Another great fly. The Oct Caddis are probably about on the Metolius.. I've not been on the river in a while but maybe Variant can give me the scoop.

Re: Davy Wotton : Wet Fly Ways :

I'm pretty sure that most of us who fish soft hackles have done just about every technique mentioned at one time or other. Each waterway has segments that suggest we modify our approach to fit. I enjoy the ole down and across because it works in a lot of the water I fish. However, often find that I ...

Re: Generic Nymphs and Softhackles

DUBBN thank you for continuing to add to the variety of flies in my box. I don't think I've yet to see a fly you share that I wouldn't copy, er imitate, er create a variant of... well you get the idea.

Re: Pheasant Tail SH Jig

Bill the weed beds along the Middle D at Twin Bridges and Eagle Crest were swarming with small hoppers... no fish eating them,,, but I'd bet with the hight afternoon winds were getting a few must be being blown into the water.

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles

PLV our locations are quite different, but clearly our fishing experiences and waters must be similar. I find I'm agreeing with what you have to say about the rods, lines, and waters you fish. Especially, the versatility of the longer so called nymphing rods... What attracted me to the Cortland 10'6...
