Re: Ephemera and Semperfli silk threads

Great fly Bob... I too have used both YLI and Kimono and the color charts supplied by Old Hat have been great. The Semperfli I tried wasn't great, My wife had some in her quilting supplies, but it seems to be a little rough and thick for my tastes. Never bought any after using the wife's supply for ...

Re: New Section Name

Norm certainly deserves a page. He puts a lot more time and effort into tying than many of us combined and his photos are always top notch. I can count on there being something in the new posts almost every day because Norm take the time to share his work.

Re: Royal Charlie

Smith's book is beautiful and full of info. I've really enjoyed it too.
I expect you'll be filling some more boxes with the flies he illustrates.

CDC and Moose

I've been using CDC on some emergers lately and using the tips of the feather as an underwing. That left behind all those fibers from the lower part of the feather. Using my Pettijean clips, etc I started tying a few flies with CDC hackles...and why not a CDC tail... So here's my CDC and Moose... Mo...

Soft hackles just get the thread whip finish.... haven't found a reason to add an extra step.

Re: Fall shutdown - & +

thanks for the road trip, Roadkill...One of these days I may actually take pictures of where we fish because your photos inspire me. Its a shame that here in Oregon we suffer from the 100 year old water rights laws that benefit hobby farms to the detriment of the fisheries. True there are long time ...

Re: Mini Me Coachman and Coviello's emerger

Otto no hijack here... I'm glad to hear of your exploits and would love to know more. Your pink fly is going to get a shot here in Central Oregon too. In the water that pink might darken and resemble the October Caddis pupa on the Metolius.

Mini Me Coachman and Coviello's emerger

Some days the moon and stars all line up, the fish decide to eat, and the flies chosen were on the menu. Spent most of the morning searching for fish on a section of the middle Deschutes that flows through my neighborhood. I had little to show for my efforts other than a couple grabs and a couple LD...

Re: PT/BWO Transition Flymph

Finally got a little time on the Middle D this week.. Had some success on various soft hackles early in the day including a couple on the mini me version of Newriverspey's Coachman variant. But, the fly of the day was Roadkill's transition flymph. The last half hour of the day produced the most and ...
