Re: Fishing a Riffle
I think the old sliding bead technique is an old bass fishing trick... using a bullet weight above the worm and letting it slide as it moves along the bottom...sure works with a plastic worm on bass... should work on trout.

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
ron... thanks for your detailed reply. My interest in Scandi and Skagit lines is a little misguided actually. I rarely, almost never, fish big waters with big flies on sink tips. But, I got interested in Skagit because I use single hand spey casting all the time on a variety of rods for swinging sof...

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
Do any of you guys who fish larger rivers ever fish a single hand rod with a Scandi line swinging soft hackles....If so, what rods and which lines? I had a friend give me an intro to Scandi yesterday but it was on a 6wt rod that I would seldom fish with on the rivers I fish most. Fun to cast, but ha...

Re: Winter Larva
Wayne... i've seen a couple vids of midges in the water and from stomach samples... I'm guessing the fish don't discriminate. I've caught plenty fish on curved Zebra midges, with silver beads :o so what does the fish think of that shiny head... I've not fished midge larva often enough out here, even...
