Re: Generic Caddis Pupa

Thank you folks. I appreciate the comments. I wanted to use the pattern today , on the Gunnison, but I had no need to add any weight to my rig. Soft hackles presnted upstream ,upstream with a Mono-Rig, cast to feeding fish and ofcourse down and across. The trout were keying on Caddis from top to bo...

Re: Day Drinking Caddis and beer review.

I don't drink porter normally (but I do cook with it), but if that particular brew migrated to the far off northern reaches of far off northern Maine, I would buy it just on general principal.

...not sure I've ever drank caddis, but I've damn sure inhaled a bunch of the bastids.

Lol, you be you, Wayne! In your defense, I don't think Oliver would have had any issues with how you're catching fish. Davy..., not so sure.

Man, I envy your time on the water, brother.

I'm a long way away from Valla's working water, but I'll buy his book just because.

Re: Generic Caddis Pupa

I may try your pattern, Wayne. The Little Mad is a caddis machine for the entire season; churning out living flies by the millions. But when it comes to the end of the season, I'm always stumped. It's like somebody just hit the switch. It's the tale of two rivers. The Aroostook runs side by each wit...

Re: Organized Plucking?

Mike, You make me laugh friend! It really brightened my day to read your thread because every word you wrote was true! Walt Dette once made the statement (not a direct quote) that chickens are the dirtiest, stupid creatures.....I don't think he liked raising them at all but, it was a most necessary...

Re: Still raining......

And yes, it's still raining. The first 12 days of the month and we've already had 5.5" of the stuff. It was pouring down at 5am this morning, too. If it ever lets up I'll go check the rain gauge. The damn lawn still thinks its May! ...irritating; I'm tired of mowing grass! Wait... it gets bett...

Re: Podcast

Curious, how often do you guys use the mono-rig versus the fly line? Do you switch from one to the other on the same rod, same day, or bring two different rods, or different days different rigs? Do you continue to use a traditional fly line, and when do you prefer that if so? I've read the trout it...

Yeah, I'm definitely behind you a couple decades fishing wets.
Are you trying to say that REE is old?
If so, he would be right. I'll be 77 next month.
77-schmeventy seven! You're young at heart! New eyes! New outlook! You're going to live forever! Go fish! ...a lot!
