Re: Spun bodies still perfect

Thanks everyone.

Tying with these pre-done spun bodies I had created reminded me how much I like Australian opossum fur, especially the reddish tones. Makes very buggy looking bodies.

Spun bodies still perfect

I pulled out some spun body cards I created 2 Winters ago using William Anderson's Clark Spinning Block. These were made using William Bailey's awesome wax, hare's mask, and Pearsall's Gossamer silk thread. They are still perfect and do not untwist when taken off the cards. Flymph-spun-body.jpg time...

Re: Caddis Emerger

The older I get the more I prefer simplicity in fly tying. caddis-emerger.jpg John I love this philosophy. The Graphic Caddis is a wonderful pattern, but time consuming to tie. For me. Your pattern would produce just as well. Well done! I think the Internet has made so many guys wanting to out tie ...

Re: Caddis Emerger

Really nice pattern. The older I get, the more I appreciate simple fly dressings. Have you tried Jim's Triple Threat Caddis. Any time there are caddis about, that's my go-to pattern, in the appropriate color and size. Yes, i have tied and used Jim's Triple Threat. It is a great pattern, especially ...

Speaking of Cornish Game hens: https://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/30104075.html Thanks, Bill. I haven't shopped there for some time. One of those pretty Cornish Game skins and a Chukkar are headed my way. REE, thanks for buying the Cornish hen cape. I know I don't need it, but the force was stron...

Caddis Emerger

The older I get the more I prefer simplicity in fly tying. I see a lot of wonderful fly tiers going into extreme details in their fly patterns. Personally, I have found all the details are not needed to fool wild trout in 99% of the situations.

Re: Picric dyed hare's mask

Very nice fly John. What is the hook that u are using ? Partridge G3A/L Wet Heavy Supreme hook . That is my favorite "heavy" wet fly hook to get the soft hackle flies down in the water column further than a light wire hook. BTW, the turkey turned out to be just the breast and was deliciou...

Dubbn, don't you also have the Pteronarcys californica nymphs (Giant Salmonfly)?
