Re: Buckskin
I still tie and fish a few buckskin patterns and believe the chamois gives the fish something to chew on. After a few fish, they get stanked and slimed like the real thing  ... synthetics don't do that. The downside is they do not dry well and there will be some rusty hooks but it's a small...

Re: Saber Hooks?
Carl, If you have any Dai-Riki #270 size #10. I use them on some of my soft hackle patterns.

Re: A wet fly bound to raise some hackles ;)
Very Nice!
At first, they looked like a biot body. A monochord is bomb proof!
I also like a stiffer hackle on a wet when fishing fast broken water during a spinner fall.
Browns like those softer waters but there's nothing like a ballistic rainbow in a riffle.
A little bit of Badger in that cape?

or you just like Wholesale Fly better?

Re: Top 6 Commonly Used Hen Neck Colors?
I believe he does Ron. Not a better deal going anywhere. I'll second that, and yes, he does include the saddle. I was sorry Charlie was not at the FFS in Jersey last January. Apparently the cost for vendors became prohibitive. He always had a selection of variants that were just a little different ...

Re: Wet flies of Dana Reed (Theroe)
Dana was tying a few of those patterns at Fly Fest 2019 last February.
I don't have the quills he had but I'm having fun tying "Scotch style"
Ray, There's a good chance that the hackle on those are from Darbee too.
( I took a peek at his stash )

I received my copy yesterday. It's a 1972 second printing in great shape and only set me back a Jackson.jcwillow777 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:04 pm Thanks for posting this John. Yet another book to add to my library!

Those "Fuzzy Heads" fished in riffles during a Green Drake hatch would be a blast.
Well done Mr. Dougsden.

Re: Lucky day...Is it a Mink or a Weasel?
That is a mink, Dave. The white "beard" and dark coat is typical winter attire. You will see that they do have slightly webbed feet too. Big claws + nasty set of choppers = one mean critter. Take the time to process the pelt as Dana suggested. I have a beige mottled stole I'm taking apart ...
