Re: Shetland wool yarn

Bob,

I appreciate the photos. I will have to cut some up and put it in my little 70s-era seed/coffee mill.

Thanks- Ken

Re: Shetland wool yarn

Bob,

I'm familiar with the Oyster 290 as a substitute for the Killer Bug yarn. I have a lifetime supply and would love to see a fly you've tied using the cut up yarn as dubbing.

Thanks- Ken

Re: Black caddis

Newriverspey, Like the other members who responded to your post, I like this fly. I was surprised when I saw the picture; it's not what I expected to see when the title of the post was: Black Caddis. I was thinking, black body, black hackle--a mostly black fly. Does this pattern darken a lot when we...

Re: Hare an Hare

Extremely buggy looking; I like the look of the red/gold/green bead in the 1st picture.

Re: Faux Breadcrust

How did you get the "spiky look" to the body? Is that a brown hackle palmered and then cut off short?

Thanks- Ken

Bob,

Perhaps the pastor or the elderly gentleman kidnapped the red wabbit
and are holding it hostage until you send a ransom of cracklebacks!

Re: Soft Hackle Patterns for Madison & Firehole

I appreciate the many replies with pattern suggestions, pictures, and even tying videos. I made a short list of some material to buy (Improved Sparkle Dubbing - Polar Bear, Pearl Ice Dub, AZ Synthetic Peacock - Golden Olive, and Nature's Siprit Emergence Dubbing - Cream). I also like the look of tho...

Re: hook question

Ron, I recently bought some of the Daiichi 1480 in size 14 and 18. I like the look of the Limerick bend. I probably need to go up 1 hook size since they're 2X short. I have tied a few flies on them, but haven't fished them yet. I would love to give a big fish the chance to straighten one! The "up ey...
