Visit Magpie Materials for Hen Necks
Check out Stephen Hankin's web site: Magpie Materials.
It's been mentioned here before. Admirers of his stuff include Old Hat, REE, and Charlie Craven, which speaks volumes!
He has added Riseform Hackle, including hen necks.

Re: New spider hook from Ahrex
Here are the replies I received:
J Stockard: We don't have them now. We may carry them in the future.
Dette: Not currently in stock. We have them on order; expect spring 2025 delivery.

Re: New spider hook from Ahrex
Yes, but when you click on Mike's site, it shows: "out of stock, due in during early 2025".
And his web site is far from "user friendly", at least during my experiences!
Thanks- Ken

Re: New spider hook from Ahrex
I've e-mailed J Stockard and Dette Fly Shop to see if they will carry them too. Will update if they reply.
Nothing showed up from Amazon or ebay when searched.

I didn't see these hooks listed on the J Stockard web site.
Do you know who has them in stock and for sale?
Thanks- Ken

Re: Splitting versus dubbing ropes
I've used both, plus I have a dubbing block. I prefer "splitting" the thread over making a loop. With Pearsall's, splitting is easy because I just "untwist" the thread (it's only 3 strands), then apply wax, and insert the dubbing. My 3X magnifier helps (check in to getting one Mi...

Re: Preferred Silk
Pearsall's Gossamer is getting harder and harder to find. Asking prices on the secondary market (often $25.00 per spool) are out of sight. Once in a while, you can find reasonable prices when someone is selling off their dead friend's 50-spool stash of Pearsall's! Yes, Stephen Hankins (from Magpie) ...
