Re: Frustrating tools

I always use liquid electric tape on my hackle pliers. I used it on this gizmo and never ha it cut the tread.

Re: Hook OCD (I definitely have it)

Jeez, I never knew I was ocd. My excuse is I’m just stocking up on stuff before I retire.

I may have to get a couple of those hook holders

Re: 54 Dean St. silk

I have a roll I used for some humpy flies. I was happy with it. I am by no means a silk expert however.

Re: Midnight Soft Hackle

That’s crazy and why I love this site. Too cool. I can only go back to the 80’s with my materials although some are already considered classics.

Re: Making Sense of Hooks

That explains a lot. I thought I was going crazy trying to figure out the lengths on some of my older mustad 9672 and 9673 hooks.

Thanks

Re: Safe Material Storage

I use an old ceder chest. So far so good, but I don’t really know how well this will work long term.

Does anybody have long term experience with this.

Re: Hooks

Yep, overall I like them. Some of the dry fly hooks at larger sizes seem a little thin to me but that does not stop me from buying them.

The list of hooks offered always seems to expand.

Re: Rabbit Dubbing

Whitetail (Whitetailflytieng.com) has a big selection. He kind of specializes in it.
