Re: Gary LaFontaine's Sparkle Pupa

Kacbo, That is a very well tied Gary LaFontaine style Sparkle Pupa! I have been tying and fishing the Sparkle Pupa and Emergent Sparkle Pupa patterns for over 45 years and have had tremendous success. When the patterns first came out in the mid 1970’s they were called the Grannom Pupa and Emergent G...

Re: Hot Furnace flymph

Great job! Ron,
It did not take you long to put that pattern together and I really the name.
Ron also shared with me some feathers and fur that was given to him.
As they say , one hand washes the other.
That is what makes this forum so special.

Re: Some "New to Me" Hooks to Try

KEN,
When it comes to hooks, there are no problems, just solutions!
You are on a roll, Partridge hooks ,Pearsall’s silk and the Golden Plover pelt!

Re: Gray hackle Yellow Flymph

Bill,
I like your flymph variation of the Gray Hackle Yellow. I have seen it tied in many versions. In THE FISHERMEN'S HANDBOOK OF TROUT FLIES , DU BOIS lists 11 different recipes.

Re: T E Pritt's #50 - Curlew

Bob, What hankaye was referring to is Philip Storey’s book titled YEAR OF THE SPIDER , published in 2013. A small volume on tying and fly fishing diary pertaining to North Country Spiders on British waters. Storey also published an updated version of YORKSHIRE TROUT FLIES, by TE PRITT. All the best....

Re: A great book I found recently…

William Blades was from Scotland and moved to the United States. He tied full dressed Atlantic Salmon patterns , bass bugs, nymphs and many other patterns. He also taught Ernie Schwiebert as well as Paul Jorgensen.
Great book.

Re: Welsumer flymph

Pat,
I must admit I am not much of a picture taker but I will see what I can dig up.
Also the hook I mentioned above is also called a Daiichi model 1330 turned up eye hook.

Re: Welsumer flymph

Hey Pat,
Good looking pattern.
The hook that you tied the Welsumer flymph on is a MARUTO D18 turned up eye dry fly, emerger hook.
All the best ,
Lou
