Re: Dirty Rat Nymph

That bursting wingcase is the ticket for that pattern. The majority of my wing cases are now Black or Peacock. If I were nymphing, Euro, Tight Line, or under a bobber (indicator) I would have this as my top fly. It would work well as an attractor, emerger, cripple, or drowned adult. You have many bu...

Re: Black Marabou midge

I swear you are planning a Colorado tailwater trip! Really good pattern!

I would not hesitate putting it on any time of the year. Tailwater, or Freestone!

Re: Experiments in Dying Muskrat (playtime)

Thanks for the samples Ray. So far I have worked on only one pattern using your Muskrat. This is my 4th attempt and by far the best looking fly. From now until freeze, caddis will be important. For me that means Soft Hackles and emergers. This pattern is a combination of the Graphic Caddis and my Em...

You have most of the Colorado tail water patterns covered with those last two.

Well done.

I do not know what was biting harder today. The little Native Cutthroats or the Mosquitos. https://i.postimg.cc/BQBFPzBp/11665540-980623271969724-4487683092095994354-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/R0NJ8Z5p/11707658-981058298592888-2034716526009022487-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/sxRBvPBb/20622146-15902534...

Dog Days

The Dog days of Summer have arrived. At least, for me they have. Tricos, and Caddis usually save my day. I have a Coq De Leon hen cape. I love looking at the large breast feathers. They are mottled to perfection. The one pain in the back side is, to tie traditionally, they would be appropriate for a...

Re: Experiments in Dying Muskrat (playtime)

I am very impressed with your dyed Muskrat, Ray. I have a hide the size of a regulation NFL football. Let me know if you would like to trade half of it for a few small patches of your dyed fur.

Brilliant! Wish I could see to tie that tiny again.
I had to try them this morning. They both produced a couple fish, but were by no means what the fish were keyed on.

If I tie anymore of them, they will go in my Winter box.
