Damn that is pretty! I can see so much potential in this cape. I’m anxious to see what you create with these feathers Wayne. By the way, did you notice those wonderful feathers near the bottom edges? They look like an excellent Golden Plover sub. Ray, i have never seen a Gilden Plover. Just photos....

With all the talk about hen hackles lately, I had to go to a Denver area fly shop on my day off. I was hoping Charlies Flybox had a Fiery Brown hen cape. He did. The trouble was, I saw this Yellow CDL hen cape and fell in love. I bought it instead. I have no idea what patterns I will tie with it, or...

I give the nod to the Brown Hackle in large rivers, and the nod to the Gray Hackle on streams and beaver ponds. That's an interesting observation. I've long considered Brown Hackles limited by season -- they work well for in March and a week either way, but are not big producers the rest of the yea...

I tie and fish both. I give the nod to the Brown Hackle in large rivers, and the nod to the Gray Hackle on streams and beaver ponds.
