I do too.

I do not need Orthodontist rubber bands for it either. I use Dollar store rubber bands and just add a couple extra twists

Re: An evening on the river

Mike, that caddis pupa is pretty dang cool! I have been swing soft hackles for about 6 weeks. I have managed alot of fish, but only one as nice as your fish.

I have been thinking of adding a Swiss Straw wing similar to the wing on your pattern.

Good looking fish and pattern man!

Thats a great idea.

Never leave home without them for over half a century! ;)
I doubt there are many people in the world that have as big of a Softhackle fascination as you and I do.

I am seriously enjoying the patterns you post.

Re: Soft Hackles

Ha! I worked a different section of the Gunnison and did twice as good as yesterday with my one Euro trout. Yep, caught two. Soft hackles are still bailing my a$$ out. Weird, I can pound the fish on the Roaring Fork Euro Nymphing. The Gunnison is hurting my feelings

Re: Soft Hackles

Yesterday afternoon I Euro nymphed a 100 yard section of the Gunnison River for two hours. I caught one Brown trout. Ugh! The last 2 hours before sunset I fished that section, and an adjoining section. With Soft hackles! On the swing. Conservative guess would be 35 fish. Ugh Lesson learned? T...
