Pretty sure I got some spools from the same guy. Bought a few but the elusive #4 Yellow was my great score on the lot. Is anyone familiar with the Langley Superfine Silk? Is it Pearsall’s under a different name or different altogether?

I have a spool with the color code LT1423. Looks like Primrose to me.

Great looking flies. I like how you managed the tapered body. Mine tend to be of the straight variety. Going to give your method a go to get that same ‘cigar’ affect.

By first glance of the picture that Lance provided my guess is that the tail is furnace hen.

Mine smells like an old wet blanket. Maybe it was the paper they used. However it is a prized book and one of my favorites.
