Re: Discouraged

Thanks Bob. I ended up using my tweezers to pick the wings up and it made it easier. But once in my fingers, lining up the ends, I was having trouble.

But I am determined to learn this, so my discouragement drives me.

Re: Discouraged

Thanks for being brave enough to pose the question, T. I can't tie quill wings worth a damn, either. I'll use all this info to improve. These responses are fantastic, so much good information. How is one to learn if they don't ask for help? I'm just thankful that I received that help from this foru...

Re: Yellow CDL (hen)

I have never seen CDL that color. The fly you just shown us is one sexy looking fly. It looks great with that color.

Re: Discouraged

Thanks guys. The photos you shared showing the wings all look fantastic. I will practice, practice and practice some more by just tying wings onto a hook so I don't waste material that already works for me. I must admit that I have been putting learning this technique off for about two years because...

I will probably use calf tail for the RGK Trude. But for this version I want to stay as original as I can.

Discouraged

Hey friends, I have been wanting to tie the wet fly version of the Rio Grande King for about a month now and I finally got my materials. I have never tied wings like this before and I have watched many videos tying flies with this style of wing and it looks simple to me, but I am struggling really b...

Re: Rockin' Ray

I don't think I have seen a cleaner eye. The head on the fly got my attention right off the bat. Well tied fly.

What kind of yellow hackle is that from, a duck? I have been looking for yellow hackle and I'm having a tough time finding any.

Re: Partridge and Yellow Emerger

I like the Opal Mirage for the body, it gives it character and a nice slim profile. Great colors too working together like they do.

I think the fly itself looks great. Great coloring to it.

I personally prefer Rachel Welch.
