Re: A new small stream rod...on the cheap.

I remember when I was a child if you had an Eagle Claw rod you were on top of it all. For what they are, they still are great rods for the price. I'd like to buy one and keep it in the truck for those days I get the itch to fish after work. Good for you on finding that 3wt rod. That's a great find.

Re: Now What?

With all the materials you are mentioning, I'd love to see your collection.
I can now understand your issue. You must have enough materials and flies to start your own museum.

Re: Now What?

You could create a trust and appoint a trustee to distribute flies and materials to fly tyers and fly fishers of the trustee's selection based on criteria you establish. Others could add to the same trust. You could also authorize the trustee to sell flies and materials for the benefit of persons y...

Re: Now What?

For the flies I'd donate to an organization like Project Healing Waters. They could always use the flies.

The fly tying materials and hooks, I'd see if there's a youngster near by who wants to learn to tie flies and give it to him or her.

Re: Colorado River Special

I like how the tail stands out and the hackle looks perfect.
I always preferred copper over gold because its just done better for me with the waters I fish being dingy.

Good looking fly.

Talk about being blessed. It's almost like the bird gave you the muskrat. I have hawks flying around my house all day long and have never had one drop anything I could use.

Re: Three Spiders

I have found it helps at times to mark 2mm behind the eye with a Sharpie. Use that mark as a border for your material, as in don't cross that line. Then when your materials are tied at the line you will have room for your head without crowding the eye. That's a good idea! Sometimes I need to put a ...
