Re: Old Blue Dun

Norm, your tie is beautiful. But you pointed to a source that looks pretty cool too! One that I haven't seen before. Thank you.

It's not being updated any longer, but it still has some really nice patterns, and it's another handy resource!

Re: Bad news from YLI

Just an FYI. I got this email from YLI this morning: "A lot has changed at Y.L.I. Threads, and we’d love for you to see what’s new! Jim Miller, who bought the company about 30 years ago and moved it from Utah to South Carolina, decided it was time to retire. I had the honor of buying Y.L.I. in ...

That's really cool, Bob! But don't stop at #60. There's two more after that.

Re: Parting With Fishing “Stuff”

I learned to fish when I was about 8. My uncle taught me to use spin gear, with worms usually, but also Daredevils and Mepps spinners, to catch stocked rainbows in the Sierras (especially Yosemite, when they still stocked fish in the Merced). Life happened and I didn't fish until after my first daug...

Re: A Small Wheatley Box

I have very kind & generous daughters. They asked me what I wanted for Father's Day. I started out using Wheatley boxes 30 years ago, when I got them for "free" from LL Bean, using gift cards I got from my work. But I switched over to C&F boxes after about 10 years. However, in the...

SA also makes some markers, in several different colors, for use on leaders for sighters. I bought a couple a while ago, but haven't used them. I bought them for my euro setup, but have since found that I don't really like that style of fishing (even if very effective). https://scientificanglers.com...

Wow, I didn't even know what filoplume was until a few minutes ago, when I looked it up. Amazing what I learn here.

Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL

More than a little bit sad. Just got this last issue today, and it’s the last issue. As in, ever. Very sorry to read this but I understand that life gets in the way. Another FF magazine folded late last year. That was my favorite. Steve knows which one. My best wishes to Steve. I really enjoyed this...

I just noticed the wax.tip was "authored" by Petey Laphroaig, ...
I missed that. Now that's a joke!

Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL

Finally got around to reading it, cover to cover. Excellent! I did go to Ace and bought some wax meantioned in tips. I already had more than I will ever use, but... I bought the wax mentioned. Very, very sticky. I wouldn't put it on your finger. I usually just put some on my tying bench, where this...
