Re: California Coachman

Hi Norm, did you originate this fly? Or did you find it somewhere online or in print? Looks sort of like the Sierra Bright Dot, but with peacock herl instead of hackle, plus the wing. I like it!

Re: Hook OCD (I definitely have it)

The lids for the individual compartments are not great. They loosen easily but the main lid for each large 28 compartment box is secure. The plastic is not of very high quality, but honestly, it doesn't need to be to hold hooks and beads. If a 4-compartment group were to fall on the floor, it would ...

Re: Hook OCD (I definitely have it)

I've been at this for only about 2 years now, and I definitely have OCD. I have a spreadsheet with my hooks, beads, threads, and other materials. I also use the same boxes that chugbug uses for hooks and beads.

I hate the 200R with a heat that burns with the fire of a thousand suns.

Why? ...why does the moon chase the sun? It's an inherent part of my tying DNA; gawd, I despise that hook.
This forum really makes some people hold their emotions in check.

Re: Thread Keeper

I've got a lifetime supply of NZ indicator stuff as well. But, to be honest, I prefer using the Dorsey indicator system.

Thread Keeper

I use Rite Bobbin holders. I usually leave a bobbin of thread in the bobbin holder when I'm done with my session. But there is a "tag" end of the thread. I tried using some small O-rings to hold the end but none ever worked well, including a Wapsi product, which was difficult to attach. Th...

Re: Tutorials & Step-by-Steps (SBS) Posts

Just an update. I was searching for the original ukflydressing article on dubbing, but all other links failed. For now, at least, this link works. A very comprehensive guide. https://www.elmerfishing.com/index.php/fly-tying/flytying-articles/315-the-complete-guide-to-dubbing?showall=1&limitstart...

Thanks, Ray! The picture of the Uni and Kimono spools is very useful.
