Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
Also I find it pretty funny that sawyer seems to get all the credit for the PT nymph but openly admitted he wasn't the first to do it. Just the one who made it popular. The English version anyway.

Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
DUBBN I actually agree too. I do like the the sawyer PT and have caught plenty of fish with it but that's not to say I think it's the best by any means. I LOVE the gray goose but I tie them with thread usually, unless I'm feeling nostalgic, and I think both need some dubbing or peacock or something ...

Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
Bumping an old thread. I just love Mr.Sawyer! I love his simple and straight to the point approach. I've been on a real sawyer kick recently and have cross referenced several books reading all of his writings but it more or less all the same. I have a few questions I was hoping some of you experts c...

Re: Peacock & Black
I've been tying this lately too! I've been using claret pearsalls some with natural black, and some with furnace hackle. Haven't fished them yet but I have high hopes. Nice work!

Re: Lisenring's March brown
If I somehow gave the impression I don't think lisenring's knew what he was doing that is not at all the case. His patterns are fantastic proven fish catchers and he was the master of profile. Just never really thought this was the best way to achieve the same look.

Lisenring's March brown
I honestly never really liked the idea of the way Lisenring went about dressing the abdomen of his march brown. Either wrap the PT fibers then rib it with orange silk, or fine wire, but why both? Twisting the fibers up in the working silk also seemed kind of "klunky" also. I figured he is ...

Re: AP emergers
Great looking flies. I know a rise won't always allow but I much prefer flies like this that just look like a nice tasty bug rather than anything too specific. Is there info anywhere I can read on the swap? I'd love to get involved!
