Where have all the Soft Hackle Tiers gone?

Is anyone still getting by here to post? I was gone a few months myself but it appears I was last to post anything....Hmmm. Did I really burn everyone out?

Re: Fishing Soft Hackles in Winer

The hard earned knowledge, as you called it, may be different then some think here! The idea at hand, I'm sure is a spin on someone else's ideas. The really hard earned knowledge, came about in getting over myself, my limitations or as I say now, the tests in and to Faith, that God only puts on your...

Re: Fishing Soft Hackles in Winer

No matter what pattern you choose, there is a means by which I have started setting up flies for winter! My hands can get cold, depending on wind, temp, and how often I get wet! Fingers get stiff and tying on those size 20's and way smaller's, becomes a challenge! (this holds true if you fishing int...

Re: Wet flies as fished by Bergman

I have heard John Shaner and others note the reason for the dozens of seemingly pointless patterns, just rearranged combinations of materials to the point of silliness, was simply for the sake of feeding a growing market and a demand for new flies. I would be interested to hear more about that. Bas...

Re: Questionable Fly

I've fished a lot of high pressured waters, meaning that there was typically 20 fly fling'er ahead of me.... you know the place.... stand in line to flip a fly out in the same hole as all others...LOL In many such areas, there are "local -got -to-use it" flies, and half those ahead of you done stuck...

So as not to High-jack the prior post: Challenge!

Yes! Quite a treat, i learning! I sometimes will do that to myself with tying a new pattern or series of flies, in that I take a small box of only those flies to fish, no less then a half day! You learn to fish flies top to bottom and in all means of presentation, until it catches! That could be a g...

Re: On the hunt for searun browns in February

Yes.... Reminds me of my first Trout outing. Back in the days of early Internet message boards, there was a few of the earliest sights, operating in real time only (meaning, no snap... instant... or even cell phone linkage!) thus you had a question about fly tying and you typed it out, un-aided by p...

WiFlyFisher Visited your link! http://www.wiflyfisher.com/brown-drake-mayfly-hatch.asp So, the video..... was that on the Namekagon River, about midway between Earl and Springbrook, both west of Hayward? Standing there at the canoe put-in, looking a bit upstream? Hmmmm didn't see you out there! FliT...

Re: Silver Bodied Flies

Wow! I know this is odd, I'm agreeing with Old Hat! I tie several Silver body wet flies with their primary use, being bright clear days on clear, extremely "busy" waters! The busier the better! Typically tying these on 12's, 10's and even 8's. Fishing two at a time (reducing risks of multiple hook-u...
