The RV looked spick and span, everything in its right place, well at least the right place for Hank, others may think differently. Rascal would have preferred the dog biscuits a little lower down and not in a sealed container, no matter how he tried to convince Hank otherwise, he reluctantly accepte...

One thing to bear in mind when looking for waterhen substitute is that there is a brown hue to waterhen feathers and I would agree with philip that the inherent elasticity of many game bird feathers is quite important.

Its only fair when offered a fly dressing to eventually post your findings. Bailies Purple as advocated by Mike works nicely in an Iron Blue hatch, on my last two outings I took some fish on it, I can only imagine how many a skilled wet fly angler would take. Yes you are right there, that is the kind of thing they use for stocked rainbows on the English reservoirs. I copied that from a fly catalogue catering to that trade.
