Re: Early Spring Spider

Nicely done Bill. If the wind ever quits howling here in Wisconsin I will once again head out to a little creek in hopes of seeing the little fly you have described. Just spattering's between Little Black Stones, Midge and shortly now a small mayfly will bring a few trout to the surface. Small dark ...

Re: Where have all the Soft Hackle Tiers gone?

Hi Trap, Back on the 18th of last month there was a query at least very similar to yours. It can be found in the Fishing Cabin with the title Saturday Morning Musings. It was when I first read that post that I recalled how concerned our dear friend Mark Libertone would get as fresh posts to then his...

Re: Hare's Lug & Plover Drake

On my screen as well, the thorax rabbit fur as well as a reflection off some of the hackle appears as blue. Pretty but blue.

Re: Llama Fly

John I think Henry looked at my fly twice and asked the name three times as he finished tying his Black Ghost. I'm not sure how many BG complete with JC eyes Henry gave away but the $5.00 should have helped him break even. ;)

Re: Some New Materials

You might try breaking the rachis (barbs part closest to the stem) by stroking the dull side of the scissor blade against the feather stem. Tie in hackle stem where you want to wrap. Grasp tip with hackle pliers. Now just rub the closed scissor blade against the stem to be wrapped on the front side ...

Re: Llama Fly

Thanks, Jerry, for providing the correct spelling of Mr. Tourtillout's name. Well Bill, thanks for the recognition. However after your post I started thinking about the various articles I had read regarding the Llama and Miles. Each seemed to have a different spelling for the mans last name. I had ...

Re: Llama Fly

Bill nice fly indeed and tied sparse as it was said it should be. Those big eyes have to say; "Hey look at me". I don't fish a lot of streamers however the Llama is one that has found Its way into the mix. It was said by Miles Tourtillout to a good friend of mine that he had found the patt...

Re: Coachman Brown Hen Capes

I have had only one experience with Coachman Brown in feathers. Well actually it was a friend who several years ago asked a fly shop owner at a show if he had any rooster capes in Coachman Brown. The answer was to try Clairol. This got a chuckle out of the owners help but did little to amuse my frie...
