Re: thread choice for a Black Spider

Great video, Ron. You have a very nice instructional style and the history behind the fly is excellent.

There's a Youtube video of Davie McPhail tying this pattern. If I wasn't so lazy (and at work), I would post the link. ;)

Re: Teak Wading Staff (DIY Project)

Nice work, Ray! You could sell those. My wife bought me a folding wading staff a couple of years ago. I used to be very sure-footed, but I have had some balance problems the past couple of years. I took a couple of pretty nasty spills, but fortunately, I was on the bank at the time.

Re: Purple

Really nice looking flies, Wayne. I would fish any of those in a heartbeat.

Re: Flouro Tippets for Flymphs?

I will be following this thread with interest, as I am taking the plunge on fluoro (at least for my nymphing set-up) this year. I have a 9 foot, fluorocarbon leader tapered to 2X. I plan to get spools of 3X and 4X fluoro, and use that to fashion a two-fly nymphing rig.

Given the source, pretty much the ultimate compliment, I'd say.
Agreed. Thanks, Hans, and everyone else for the kind words.
