Re: Frustrating tools
I must be a lucky one. My Smhaen dubbing twister has worked perfectly since day one. It's a favorite on the bench, especially for spinning peacock herl and hackle in a loop. Like Ray, I do keep a sheet of 1500 wet or dry paper near the desk, but it gets used on safeties and sears on firearms more th...

I'm with Ray. Both look great and deserve a swim.

Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL
I got my fourth and final copy of the SHJ yesterday and was saddened to read the news that it would be the last issue. I have read it cover to cover, as I have every issue, now to go back and read it again. I enjoyed the article that referenced Rocky Ford Creek in Eastern Washington. We used to fish...

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
I agree with you that I can use the OPST heads and still play, but I'm thinking the Scandi lines might be better for the smaller flies and surface fishing that I prefer.... ron, When I'm fishing with any of my rods, either a single hander or a double, my big flies are usually sizes 10 to 16 on a fl...

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
Do any of you guys who fish larger rivers ever fish a single hand rod with a Scandi line swinging soft hackles....If so, what rods and which lines? I had a friend give me an intro to Scandi yesterday but it was on a 6wt rod that I would seldom fish with on the rivers I fish most. Fun to cast, but h...

Re: Kaleidoscope Soft Hackle
It reminds me of the Skykomish Sunrise , a classic steelhead pattern. Well done. Lou Bill, IMHO there is not a more elegant soft hacked steelhead wet fly to swing for summer steelhead than a Alec Jackson’s Spade flies ! Lou Lou, is this the fly your speaking of? https://www.flyanglersonline.com/fly...

Re: Leisenring for sale
Did some checking around in all the usual places. Prices are in the $60 to $90 range for a very good used copy. There are several over $100, with the highest I found to be a whopping $588.39. I admit that it's a very good book, but $588.39 good...not for me.

Norm, your floss bodies are just unbelievable. Do you burnish them?
