Re: Michigan

Very nice pattern. Looks like a lot of things in the water around here. What impresses me is the tying of the fly. Just impeccable, Norm, absolute perfection.

Re: UV

I tied some $3 Dips using some UV Pearl Ice dub for the wing instead of deer hair. Fished both flies in tandem and the UV fly out fished the non-UV fly every time, no matter where on the leader it was. I only tie a couple of flies using UV materials and they all perform very well. Thought I might s...

Re: Ephemera and Semperfli silk threads

Ron, Rather than risking a friendship or reputation for blatantly stealing a pattern I would happily give freely, it is as follows: Hook: Daiichi 1150 # 14 or 16 Butt: Veevus 14/0 bright orange thread hot spot built up to match wire diameter Body: UTC sculpin olive wire “small” reverse wound tightl...

Re: Ephemera and Semperfli silk threads

Hi Solitaryflyguy. Nice to see some younger folks, like yourself, joining in (just turned 76 myself). That's a good looking fly. Any chance of a materials list for someone to blatantly steal it. I tried the ephemera silk and found it to be a bit to thick and didn't have the finish of Pearsall's. See...

Re: New Section Name

If that means Norm continues to post his stellar creations on the page, I agree. I've been seeing Norm's flies for about 30 years, back when we were both on FAOL a lot. I never get tired of seeing his work and reading the back ground of the fly.

Re: Fox Hole Special

Great looking fly, Norm. I'll be adding a few to the box for those pressured areas I fish, like the East Outlet of the Kennebeck where they see a lot of Black Ghosts, Golden Retrievers and such. Beautifully dressed, as always.

Re: Starling & Herl

Nicely tied, Norm. This one is a favorite of mine. The combination of peacock herl and starling hackle just seems to be a fish magnet. This fly has kept me from getting skunked several times.

Re: Nation's Fancy

I'm liking the two color bodies, Norm. Like the Angel Child, I'm stealing this one as well.

Re: Angel Child

Lovely fly, Norm. I can see that in the jaw of some monster beaver pond brook trout. Another that I'm shamelessly stealing and putting in my box.
