Re: Ash colored silk
I have a few spools of ash and each one is a slightly different, depending on the age, but it's unique enough to clearly be ash. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Re: Hackle Pliers
For the past 15 years I have been using almost exclusively the black, tear-drop shaped hackle pliers by J.Dorin. They used to come in a small and large, but in the past few years I've only seen them for sale in large. I've bought and still have half a dozen and I never want to be without them. They ...

Re: Edmonds & Lee's March Brown - No 8b
These are all just fantastic. That colored dubbing is beautiful, especially with the 8b thread. Such a nice combination. Lance ties a partridge flymph using a pink dubbing on waxed primrose or orange that gives a very similar effect. Of course I think I'm down to my last one.

Re: Yellow Spiders
Same here. I've dyed some white materials in a yellow RIT dye, but haven't tried the spice cabinet. These really came out nice.

Re: Rod length & action in spider fishing
I don't have a lot to offer beyond what's been said already, but I'll add my personal preferences. I like a longer rod, 9'-10' and I like a medium action. It's actually just right down the middle. There are often times when I'm trying to nymph or present dries, and the 9' 4 wt works in almost every ...

Re: Throstle Wing
That is a beauty. French partridge does make one of the more springy looking hackles. This looks like a good one.
