Re: UV

I think UV materials are just a marketing exercise…. I don’t think they make one iota of difference to the effectiveness - or not - of a fly.

Re: Hooks

I buy what I can get. Mainly Tiemco and Kamasan for fishing use. Have lots of other hooks for display flies and what have you but if I had a choice of one brand it’d be Kamasan but here in NZ, Tiemco are cheaper for me to buy in bulk so mainly go for them

Re: Plover & Yellow; Does the Hook Change the Look?

I’d kiss my sister before I’ll use a 200R.
I think the gape is awful and reduces hookups.
It’s one of the few I’d not use.
For anything
But hey if we were all the same, things would be boring….

Re: Head question

For decades now I just use whatever clear nail varnish is on sale at the time. Works for me….

Re: Plover & Yellow; Does the Hook Change the Look?

I don’t think it really matters.
The fly is the same.
It’s all personal preference as to choice of hook

Re: Water Spider (Peacock & Black)

I like that. I’m going to tie up a few for around this side of the black stump. But I’ll go with Pukeko Hackle, see how that fishes……

Beaver is different. All beaver should be shaven as close as possible. Its easier and funner to work with.

Yep…. Agreed 😀
