Re: A glimpse into Doug's fly box (Winter 2023 Tying)

Nice! Maybe we could start a post where we can post a pic of our soft hackle box or regular fly box. Or something.
Always enjoy seeing what others have in their fly boxes and how they organised.
An insight to the soul 😆

Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL

I’d be interested but just googled and at US$120 (approx NZ$200) international subscription per year for four issues…..

Re: Eye candy and more

Down here we don’t have much call for tiny flies. A couple of insects are imitated with a #20 but that’d be about it. OTT they’d pretty much all be #16 upwards with a few #18 thrown in for fussy fish….

Re: Green Darter

The Darter is just a term I use for a mid sized swimming mayfly nymph down here. They are very active and dart here and there, hence the name. I’m not the first to use it - a noted NZ fisherman by the name of Norm Marsh had a wee nymph he called a Grey Darter he used to imitate swimming nymphs..

A startlingly effective little wet fly….

I saw a pic of a water spider with a wee air bubble near the head. So I came up with this. Peacock herl body with a clear bead at the front with a light CDC hackle. 12 to 18. Very simple, but surprisingly very effective little fly I have discovered to my joy. May be worth a crack in your neck of the...

I see William Anderson in the pics from10 years past. Haven’t seen him on here in quite a while. I hope he’s still out there kicking around. He’s had some interesting posts and comments over the years…
