Re: Left & right wings

I found a seller and order my wings, specifying that the wings come from the same bird and that they be separated from each set. I offered them a reasonable price and that's how they came.

Re: English Grouse (aka moor cock)

I have been using EG for years and sub it for other partridge or grouse. I find that the coloration matches bugs more closely than what is called for in the original pattern. Saying that I have both cock and hen along with poult feathers. There are several patterns that call for poult over adult.

I have an entire AO hide, red phase, they come in gray and red and like all animals there is many different shades of fur. I imagine that when they dyed they would dye the entire hide, probably several.

Re: Tups

For me when I sit down to tye a classic fly I want to use the materials that the original calls for. That in itself is where the fun lies, collecting a particular bit of material what it's all about. Re: Ted Neimeyer Stripped Quills

I'm late to the game on this but I stripped quills like that in the '70's and I still have some stored in glycerin. I have no idea where I got the info from, it was from printed material.

Re: Is This............Pearsall's 6b (Sherry Spinner)?

I have wooden spools of 6b that differ somewhat in color, what I suspect is different dye lots and UV deterioration of the silks. I also have some of Pearsall's Embroidery (6b) that does match the wooden spools I have.
