More On Fly tying Tools

OK So I kind of enjoyed the little discussion on good hackle pliers. How about decent bobbins to handle small spools like Pearsalls silk? One that's not too expensive. Also how about your favorite scissors? Ones that work for smaller flies. I have a pair that work well but I wouldn't mind having a p...

Re: Edmonds & Lee's March Brown - No 8b

Great looking flies. I also think the color of the dubbing on these looks good. Soft hackle flies/spiders are some of the buggiest looking flies. IMHO

Re: Yellow Spiders

Yes, thanks for writing more about the dye process. I have to try it. I like the idea of dyeing with natural materials. Thanks again.

Re: Yellow Spiders

Nicely done. I know of the video of Oliver Edwards tying the yellow spider. I'd like to know more about the dye you speak of. Could you give more information or tell me where I could find it? Thanks much.

Re: Hackle Pliers

I should add I've been tying flies for many years and always liked the English hackle pliers the best but it's hard sometimes to find one that the jaws are tight when closed. If they're made well they work great. Helps if you can go through some to find a good pair.

Hackle Pliers

Having some troubles with the hackle pliers I have. Anyone have a good recommendation for hackle pliers that hold the feather and won't cut delicate ones? Thanks

Re: Couple more tying questions

Hank, Thanks for the welcome. I always try to be open minded about fly fishing. I'll never learn it all and I think that's one of the things that keeps me interested in fishing and tying flies. On the one hand there's always something new to learn and yet on the other hand there's rarely anything co...
