Thanks for posting this John. Yet another book to add to my library!
I received my copy yesterday. It's a 1972 second printing in great shape and only set me back a Jackson. :D
Not bad. Mine's a 1972 second printing too, in great shape for $6.84, with free shipping from Amazon.

Re: Leisenring color and materials book

Thanks so much for posting this info and pics! I have been soaking up as much info as I can on soft hackles and flymphs over the past year. I think I've read 50 books this year. Reading The Complete Angler by Issac Walton and Charles Cotton now (free PDF version). Thanks for the info on the Magazine...

Nice job. I really like that fly, a lot. I'd like to try that one on the AuSable during the Iso hatch.

Re: Silk Color Comparison

I bought some of the Ephemera from 54DeanStreet too. Since it came from Italy, it did take a while. I did find a better price if you are interested. I thought shipping was kind of high from 54DeanStreet too. If I shouldn't mention it, just delete my post. https://www.aaronmostojfeathers.com/store/p1...

Re: Three basic Soft Hackles that worked great for me last year!

JC, Yes, I'm planning to be attending the Expo again in 2019 and it looks like they are going to have me do a tying demo which will be my first one at this event. Also, I'm tentatively planning on doing a tying class at Gate's in May. If/when this scheduled I'll post it on the Forum. Cool, I'll hav...

Re: Three basic Soft Hackles that worked great for me last year!

Thanks for all of the kind comments. As far as the books I'm looking for, they are still under copyright. One is The Guide to North Country Flies by Mike Harding, going for $2,269.75 and A Handbook of North Country Flies by W. S. Roger Fogg, going for $692.43 on Amazon. Both were listed at $99 for a...

Three basic Soft Hackles that worked great for me last year!

Last year was my first year fishing soft hackles, thanks to John Shaner! He has come to the Midwest Fly Fishing Expo at Macomb Community College in Michigan the past two years. He sparked my interest two years ago, by after his presentation last March I decided I would fish nothing but soft hackles ...
