Re: Macro Fly Photography - A Process

Great posts. I'm really enjoying the journey here. About making the picture look more like the fly, at least color-wise. If you aren't working on a calibrated monitor, then you are adjusting the colors only to your monitor. What we see looks great, but it may or may not (with emphasis on may not, lo...

Re: Sylvester Nemes Soft-Hackles

I love the flies you are showing us, but I will ever be the student, sitting (usually) quietly in the corner, soaking up what the others are saying. Please do continue photographing and posting these original ties. I'm spell...

Re: March Brown Flymph Var. I

An easy remedy is to leave water in a jug for uses like this. I love the pic with the bubbles. It reminds me of the spiderweb pics with mornin...

Bob,
The web page said it was duck breast? Didn't say what kind of duck.

Re: Macro Fly Photography - A Process

William, I'm not certain that the polarized filter is doing anything except altering your exposure rate. As I remember it, indoor light isn't polarized, only sunlight. If you rotate the filter (it should spin in it's housing) and don't see any difference in the shadows/light values in your image, th...

Re: Macro Fly Photography - A Process

One of the things I like about a DSLR is the ability to turn the auto-focus off. I find it annoying to get everything set the way I want it, and the AF decides it wants to select the backdrop as the focal point. I have\n't progressed to the point of buying/building/repurposing a light box stage for ...
