Questionable Fly

Prior to all the snow coming our way, I decided to get a day of fishing in. I tied the usual lot of flies for where I fish: midges, bwo's, and pheasant tails and right before I finished I experimented by using a partridge feather on a bead head pheasant tail. beaten up flies......

Just an observation that I noticed last week after unpacking from a trip and seeing what flies I needed to tie but it seemed that the flies that were chewed up and beaten up after catching a few fish seemed to worked better than a "fresh" new fly. Re: Swinging soft hackles

The switch rod that I used was made by Darrel at Skagit Spey Custom Rods. It really is a great set up for swinging flies in tight areas. Here is a video of the same rod being used by Ed Ward. Re: Swinging soft hackles

Overall, I had a great time and caught about a dozen fish. Most of them were browns, which was nice and the purple and partridge tied on # 19 was the ticket. I plan on going again tomorrow.

Swinging soft hackles

Well, it has been a while but I am going to swing some soft hackle flies today on the South Holston with my switch rod. I will add to this post later tonight. I am going to start of with a purple and partridge and go from there.
