soft hackle crayfish pattern

The local tailwater is not cooperating for trout fishing, so I started thinking about smallmouth fishing this summer. I tied a soft hackle crayfish pattern. Hope it works.

Re: Six Pete Hidy Flymphs from 1974

Lance,
Great post and thanks for sharing with us. Is it to be assumed that the tails are the same as the hen hackle used in each fly? Thanks in advance for your reply. Otto

Re: First catgut

Well that is good question. Absorbable suture in the world of surgery means that it will lose greater than 50% of its tensile strength within 60 days. That does not mean that the suture will be dissolved in that time. Plain gut is absorbed by macrophage enzymatic action. Then they added chromium sal...

Re: 3 Olives

Izaak,
Those are wonderful ties and I like your posts. Not to take away from your post but I am attaching a BWO that I use on a local tailwater stream. It is tied on a #28 daiichi hook. Sorry but I used my phone for the picture and the quality isn't as good as your picture. Otto

fall

Well, I finally got to go out and do some fishing. Caught a few brookies on a pheasant tail soft hackled fly, the weather was nice and the leaves were amazing. Need to get tying and ready for the swap.
