Re: Mearn's Quail

The feathers also make beautiful cheeks on stream patterns (why I bought mine). I have not tried them as soft hackles yet, but after seeing your pictures I am going to give it a go.

Man, those are all very "fishy" patterns (sincere compliment). They all looks super effective.

Thanks for the inspiration guys. ;)

Re: The Irresistible Wet

I like it! Neat design. That is a nice hook choice too. Gives the fly a nice style.

Have you thought of tying any in black? Might make a great terrestrial imitation. The spun hare body has a nice plump beatle-like shape.

Let us know how this work for you.

Re: re: William Anderson's website

Money is not the issue. Some internet troll bought the domain name out from under William, and was holding the website hostage for a huge sum of money (thousands). Unfortunately, William lost control of his own website and the contents. A heart breaking loss, which took the wind out of William's sai...

Re: Custom Leaders - My next adventure

Ron (ronr) - In my experience, hand knotted leaders are prone to picking up drifting debris from the stream. At certain times of the year (spring and fall) this can be a problem on my local streams. Some of the trees drop those white fussy floaters during pollination cycle, and they often lay in the...

Re: Custom Leaders - My next adventure

Thanks for the pointers Tim. Much appreciated. I used four turn blood knots on these leaders. The next ones I try will have three turns, as you suggest. And a treatment with Loc-Tite. ;)

Re: Custom Leaders - My next adventure

Bob, One of the things that surprised me by this Kite leader formula is how dramatically the taper changes. I will be interested in seeing how the leader compares with other more gradual tapers. On a side note, I changed up the last 36" (4x) section to nylon tippet from Cabela's. The material is ver...
