Re: Midge

Thanks, the purple and starling is one my favorite patterns for the early little black caddis and this looks like an excellent pattern for it. Do you know which RIT dye is used?

Re: Just in Golden Plover

I am jealous! I have some golden plover feathers on the way but just a handful. I am on the waiting list at Cookshills. I have been tying soft hackles for over 40 years and have never used golden plover but some of the great flies on this forum got me motivated. I hope you received a great skin!

Re: Midge

Nice looking fly and great job with the hackle. Is the effect more of a purple or blue overall?

Re: Golden Plover

I was able to purchase 20 golden plover feathers from UK on ebay and I requested to CookShill that I be added to their waiting list. Thanks again for the responses.

Re: Golden Plover

Thanks for all the advice! I did find a full golden plover skin on ebay but fell asleep and was outbid when the auction closed last night. The winning bid was $83.50, about $8 higher than my max bid. Does that price seem reasonable? I will get on the waiting list at Cookshill as suggested and see wh...

Golden Plover

There have been some exceptional flies on this forum using golden plover hack!e. I have searched the web and apparently they are very scarce. I saw yellow dyed starling ASA substitute. Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: Pheasant Tail & Plover

Great fly! Your flies are giving me motivation to brave the bitter cold and buy a new lamp for my fly tying desk. The effect of the golden plover is very life-like and a hackle not in my inventory.

Re: Darbee Tups

What a great looking fly! The Tups is one of my favorite flies but I never tied one like that. Sounds a like a good winter project and thanks for posting.
