Chris,
I am assuming your fingertip is about the size of a postage stamp....just kidding friend! Your tying is simply amazing and I am in awe of it! I have been dallying with Stewarts spiders lately and yours is impressive! I don't think I own any hooks that small!

Re: W. C. Stewarts Brown vs. Black Tying Silk
Thanks fellows! This is interesting stuff! And it makes perfect sense. While I was tying these patterns, I did wax lightly almost the entire length of tying thread and it did darken it considerably almost but not quite to a black tone. The tying thread was Benecchi 12/0 in dark brown. I was trying t...

W. C. Stewarts Brown vs. Black Tying Silk
Good evening folks, Does anyone know why W.C. Stewart would have used dark brown tying silk on his famous black spiders? Was there not such a thing at that moment in angling history? Or was it to enhance some features of the natural insect that he was immitating? I have been tying some of his spider...

Re: Demonstration of Dubbed Silk Body Technique
Guys, This thread is just awesome! William, your blocks are to die for! The shape and the groove in the last one pictured....Wow! You keep improving and refining them and that's really cool! Lance, when I read your description of spinning bodies on the traditional Clark block, I just about fell over...

Re: Shuck wax and pre-dubbed bodies
Fellows, Bill's 7-2-2 wax is terrific! I keep a wedge of it at the base of my pedistal vise and a smaller wedge on the Clark dubbing block that I have. I find myself using it constantly at many stations and phases of tying a pattern. I have to admit it does flow better when the temp. is warmer. This...

Re: A trio of Nests
Carl,
These are wonderful! I am beginning to like birds nests! They are the typical scruffy looking, fish catching flies that fish love to eat! Please keep this up. It's summer tying at it's best!

Re: The Joy of Fishing Stewarts Spiders
Carl, Very interesting return. What amazes me with the Stewart Spiders is how universal their appeal! I usually try one or two where ever I happen to light and they produce almost everytime! I have had a great career in catching bluegill but not too many trout. Just the opposite of you and other fel...

The Joy of Fishing Stewarts Spiders
Dearest Friends, In the last couple of outings to the pond, I have rediscovered the sheer joy of fishing and catching fish on Mr. Stewarts scantly clad spiders. I opened my orange wet fly box to try something different for a change and almost covered over by some other bolder patterns were a few spi...
