Re: Biot Soft Hackles

Norm,
These patterns are wonderful! I cannot get over how buggy they are!! It is a combination of well chosen body materials (biots), beautifully speckled partridge hackles, and impeccable tying skills! Wow! I wanna be one of your students!

Re: Mystery Feather Soft Hackle

Newriverspey, I hope that you get to take more walks around the woods and gather many more mystery feathers and (if you are allowed to do so) bring them home to all your MFSH fans here on this side of the ring of fire! Your pattern is absolutely spectacular! Extremely well done as usual! I too hope ...

Re: Tri-color Rusty

Another dandy Carl! The segmented theme is pure genius! I too was privy to some of Pete's mohair dubbing thanks to the kind offices of Lance! I truly did not feel worthy even to possess this historic dubbing but I did it (tied swap flies) and it felt terrific! To tie with the same material that Pete...

Re: Mottling?

That is one cool looking fly Carl! The secret is in the dubbing technique for sure! You make it look so easy! The finished look of the fly is pure "Old Hat"! Way to go! I am looking forward to the different combinations you talked about in your message above! You are cutting edge my friend...

Re: Bream bug (nymph)

You guys are singing my song with the Bream Bug (DarrellP) and the stories all about! Yes, for many of us, Bluegills are where it started and for jokers like me, the love affair has not ended! Thank you all for sharing your experiences both on the water and in the kitchen! Fantastic! Doug in the Den

Re: Orange Coachman

Geezey Petes Norm, that is one awesome pattern! The more subtle orange "mid-body" is quite attractive to me and I'll bet the trouts will like it too! There's your challenge Norm! Get out there and field test them!
Beautiful work friend as always,
Doug

Re: Washing bird skins

Gosh Rick, I dunno! Did you say it has been "Boraxed"? I am not sure what this will do to the feathers if you try and wash the skin in warm water. The Borax may actually clean the feathers or damage them.....I just don't know! Does anyone else have any practical advice for Rick? I'm sorry ...
