Donald, The green also has a depth of field to it that the other 2 do not. If the scanner is "focusing" on the background, that might account for the out-of-focus Hank mentioned.

Re: 13 ways of looking at a blackbird
I actually prefer European Blackbird which is also the national bird of Sweden. The bulldog is sometimes referred as the British bulldog for journalistic reasons here in the UK. About the only people who have anything good to say about the poor old starling are fly dressers. And some of what ...

Re: Last vacation day :(
See, and all this time I thought the hat was doing all of the fishing, and you were just there to take pictures. Glad you had a good day out. I'm duly envious. My last outing til spring may have passed as well. The only trout we have down this far are stockers. They stock 2 or 3 places aro...

You are not only crazy..You are fricking nuts! Whats wrong with you? Dry fly fishing and no action? Go to board preferances, then "My Time Zone", and set the time. You silly, crazy guy you! Leave me out of this!! :( That is one mighty fine lookin' fly, my friend. I do believe my local bre...

Re: fresh Kills
Freeze dry? Put the head and/or wings in an open container in your frost-free freezer. The only problem is, I have no idea how long this would take. Another option for the wings would be to clip and bag matched pairs (if that is how you will use them) and freeze/microwave/wash/repeat to kill critter...

Re: More feather Questions
The reason for the no possession rule is the difficulty of proving how you acquired the feathers. Did you REALLY just find them on the ground? Also, if you allow road kill or found feathers, there will be a sudden rash of road kill and found feathers, with the end result being a lack of breeding bir...

Re: "McGilly Bug" Soft Hackle
Yep, getting cold here, too. It was 60 most mornings last week..... I got the flies tied, but didn't manage to make it out fishing. The annual car show was going on and I had to go. Had to. By the time I was through there, the wind was up past the cussin' point, so I walked the creek with my camera,...

Re: "McGilly Bug" Soft Hackle
Being as I am primarily a panfisher, I think I'm going to have to try a few of these up tonight to toss in the creek in the morning. I stomped a bee on the bank and tossed it in the water one time, it didn't make 10 feet before it got massacred. (Pronounced massa`kreed in these parts.) Thanks for th...

Love the "International Version" photo. That hackle looks outstanding standing out like that! Very, very, good looking fly.
