Re: Brown Owl Hackle Substitution

Very interesting piece and nice video, thanks Robert. I was once gifted a few small owl feathers and used one to tie the brown owl. I was informed that it is illegal in the states to possess owl feathers. To my cohorts here on the forum, if we were to possess as has Robert in the UK, a collection of...

Re: A thank you Spider

While I'm at it, I tied up La Mosca Della Neve di Graziano Magrini.... one of a number of beautiful flies illustrated in Bertacchini's book... Hopefully, my translation from the Italian was close on the fly.

A thank you Spider

The folks on this forum have shared so much with me. This fly is the result of some of that sharing. NedZeppelen sent me a beautiful supply of tups dubbing. I used that as the thorax on this fly. Variant loaned me a beautiful book, 'Magie Immerse' by Pablo Bertacchini.(its all in Italian). In that b...

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets

DUBBN, take a look at the Cortland 10'6" 3wt competition nymphing rod...I've fished that rod for about 3yrs now and use it for swinging, dries, and nymphing. It comes in for under $300... they make a more expensive version too, but Ive had no issues with the cheaper rod... I've landed fish up t...

Carl, do you finish off the fly with half hitches or a whip finish.... I find it can be tricky with a whip finish tool
