Re: So ugly

I've been busy the last few days but keep going back to Waynes "ugly". I found a crane larva pattern hanging in a tree along a limestone stream in central Pa. several years ago. It didn't look like much but I stuck it in my box and forgot about it. While on another trip the river was blown...

Re: So ugly

Very nice, Wayne.
Those patterns have saved my butt more than once on blown out systems.

Re: Green Drake Emergers

Those are amazing and your spinners are something I will attempt to copy.
I've been chasing Drakes as they progress up a tail water system for a week and those flies would crush.

Re: Mystery feather soft hackle 2.0

REE, Otto, I'm well aware that possession of certain feathers are prohibited and that's why I said found, not have. Re: Mystery feather soft hackle 2.0

Otto, That definitely looks like a secondary wing feather and with that blue iridescent hue I would guess crow. And yes, there are crows in Japan and from pictures, they look more like our ravens here than our crows. I found a large primary from a Bald Eagle last Thursday while fishing the Beaverkil...

Re: Mystery feather soft hackle 2.0

Those are outstanding, Otto!
I can see the makings of an Isonychia Bicolor nymph with a feather barb to mimic
the pronounced gill tufts and satae on the naturals.
Well done.

I tied this on a #15 Gaelic Syl Nemes. [/quote] 8-)

That golden/honey Badger just flows into the primrose and dubbing.
Absolutely amazing pattern, Carl!

Washing bird skins

I have an entire female Gambles quail skin that needs some attention. It's a little greasy and some of the feathers are "matted" and don't flair evenly when wrapped around a hook. The marginal coverts, both upper and lower have some hard crusty gunk left over from skinning and drying. Poin...
