Re: A tying journal
I post most of my tyings to an album on Flickr. I started doing this mainly because I tend to forget some of the dressings.

Re: Grouse & Gold Variant
Very nice Spidery is good - I like slightly longer hackles. I think they add to overall action of the fly.

Re: Simple Pheasant soft hackle
Thank you for your favourable comments. Much appreciated. I do enjoy tying simple flies. I think it must be down to my Lancastrian heritage, being brought up on a diet of Snipe & Purple, Partridge & Orange and other North Country spiders.

Re: Smoke fly
Thanks to everyone for your comments. All my photos are taken with my iPhone SE (2020) version. I'm going to have to tie some of those. Both flies look great. David, with that background in your photo, that's got to be the fly photo of the year. And the year just started. :D Thanks. The background i...

Re: Just Starting - Hen Capes Brand/Type?
If you haven’t tied before and are learning, I’d go for the Indian Hen. They really are very good value. Hell I’ve been tying for 45 years and still hunt them out when I can..... 8-) Another vote for Indian Hen capes from me. I too have been tying for many years. I live in the UK and a lot of the A...

Re: The Christmas Spider
A delightful little fly, and highly effective no doubt. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Is that a Hopper pattern in the background? I love fishing hoppers/terrestrials during the summer. Love to hear them splat on the water, and watch the ripples emanating outwards. Anticipation building every ...
