Re: Drought
An Otter pup, they be furry little things, me , bald as an egg :) Black clouds and more incessant rain.... back to square one. Worst thing is that I could not tie a fly if you paid me, little or no fishing means little inspiration despite being mentally inspired by people posting flys here. I really...

Re: Drought
At last , the river is back to normal levels, though the rain is still with us , it has lessened some what. Managed three evenings in the last week and though the evening caddis activity was shortlived and with few of the better trout taking part it was great to participate even for twenty minutes o...

Re: Red and Black
Reminds me that I have a beadless cj in one of my boxes, ultra short greenwells hackle - intended for use on real skinny water , now this season skinny water is as rare as hens teeth. :D the CJ is a fascinating little fly, seems to work everywhere , during hatches of large Dark olives and large spur...

Re: More than meets the eye.
As usual I didnt answer the particular question particularly well :) I think I have touched on this before and its an area that I find a little fascinating as it goes to the very core of how each angler fishes and selects their flies. Most of us are conditioned to accept particular forms/styles base...

Re: More than meets the eye.
It's very easy to blame not catching anything on the fly rather than the flyfisher. I should know, I do it all the time. X2 Way too many variables for mr average with average time of the water to be definitive about whether a particluar fly is particularly great in particular circumstances and whet...

Re: Drought
I do not know what it is about this year but everything I plan gets usurped by one thing or another. One of my kids just got a hospital appointment for friday evening so more important stuff takes precedent as it should. C'est la vie.

Re: Drought
This is bit like Charles Dickens Tale of Two Cities. Little rain on Saturday, NO NO NO :D rain yesterday,,,, and Otter surmised, another 4 or 5 dryish days and I could be fishing next week. Looked outside this AM and groaned  http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/njm1962/IMG_0620.jpg I have not...

Re: Drought
Well the drought :) continues here, but the hyrdo station took a wee break for the weekend and stopped dumping water on us. Fished from 7 to 11 and apart from a lot of small fish to nymphs early evening it was quite depressing. Very few rising fish at dusk and those that were were small. Although th...
