Eric,

Here is an older post with another similar flashy fly that has worked well for me.

IBF White Miller Soft Hackle

This is a result of a day fishing the Firehole river and catching fish first with the traditional Blue Ribbon Flies White Miller Soft Hackle and then with an x-caddis variation of mine tied with a tinsel body that brought several fish to hand. This is the Cabin Eleven tying session IBF White Miller ...

Re: SBS White Miller Flymph.

Craig had the shuck in the book Fly Patterns of Yellowstone V2 but not in his tying video. http://www.blue-ribbon-flies.com/how-to ... ft_hackle/ . Either way it is a fish magnet at the right time. :D

Re: SBS White Miller Flymph.

Eric,

Nice job on the tie and on the river-an essential fly in any Yellowstone fly box and equally productive in the fall. It was a great time getting to know you and others a little last week. :D

Re: Firehole Flymph

zen, I caught several fish on white miller soft hackles. Re: Flouro Tippets for Flymphs?

I don't use it because it won't degrade like mono in the stream. A guide and fishing company tester also told me that the older fluorocarbon may have had a refractive index that made it almost invisible from the side but looking lengthwise down the line it look more like a neon light tube. ;)
