Re: Charlie Brown (good grief)
Wow! Ray, I gotta issue you a challenge more often. It may have been a PITA, but it's a brilliant fly. Well done my friend. As relaxing and focusing as tying is, I can get lost in a casting stroke. Sometimes I'll just stand in the backyard and cast, or even just keep the line in the air, doing what ...

Okay, Ray, I gotta admit that when I saw the title of your post my first thought was "How did he dub the zig zag pattern for the sweater?" Love the taper of the body. Almost reminds me of a Knudsen Spider except yours is much more elegant. It looks like a great Sea Run Cutthroat fly.

Re: Jack Russell Special
Gig,
Great looking fly, and wonderful use of your free roaming dubbing boxes. A couple of really old recipes call for the hair from the back of a liver coloured Spaniel's ear. My dog just happens to be a liver and white Springer Spaniel. I'll have to dress a couple of those flies.

Re: Pete Hidy's Gray Grizzly
How awesome it must be to have those flies in hand to imitate. Well done, Lance. You may call them rougher, I call them slightly different. If your looking for colored wire sold by the gauge sizes, check craft and bead stores. For the tails, try Heron barbs, or Blue Eared Pheasant barbs. I think the...

Nicely done. The first is a favorite on mine on the water.

Re: All Blue Spider
Smashing wee fly, Donald. I've done a few flies with a bit of blue on them and they were very effective. This should do well.

Re: Something different.....
Jeff, That looks like it would do the business on our local Sea Run Cutthroat. I'll have to dress a couple as the runs will soon be starting in earnest. That Rabbit Matuka is a lovely fly as well, but, I must admit that my favorite NZ fly is the Scotch Poacher. Must be tied with a Pukeko wing to be ...

Beautiful fly!! I agree with the difficulty in getting photos to show the wonderful colors of Pukeko.

Dubbn,
I'll find out on the 28th. Had some tests run and get the results then (The VA works in a timely manner). I'll let folks know.

Re: Old Hat sighting
I had the pleasure of watching Carl tie at Albany, OR two years ago. He is a wonderful fly dresser. I missed Albany this year, and Carl, due to a small heart issue that kept me home.
