I think I need to learn how to tie these. Nicely done, all of you.

Re: Soft hackle stonefly

It's one of the ones from the stonefly box, Ray. I better not fill too many more boxes, or I will have to rent a u-haul trailer to get them to Montana. I also have a couple of midge boxes, two boxes full of soft hackles and a third box of mixed soft hackles and nymphs. Oh, wait, I forgot to ...

Re: Madison cabbage

The hackle on the cabbage is a dark dun hackle from Conranch. Nice stuff to work with; I wish my photo did it justice.

Re: Stone Mouthfull SBS

Nice SBS. Not to be Joe Lawyer about it, but lead is prohibited in Yellowstone Park, so for flies you plan to use inside the park, you may want to substitute lead-free wire for lead wire.

Here's a link to the NPS regulations:

Re: Charlie Brooks Speaks

Wow! Thanks for posting this link. Charles Brooks was one of my early fly-fishing heroes and I own several of his books. It is fascinating to hear his voice and I particularly liked his answer to question 6. :)

Re: Stonefly box

Thanks for the kind words, everybody! I doubt the box will look as neat after it has gone fishing (most of my fly boxes are a tangled mess). The stoneflies range in size from a #6, 4XL to a #10, 2XL. There are also a few Prince nymphs and possie buggers mixed in, and a few small black stones. P.S.: ...
