Here is a nice Xuron I picked up last winter at a fly show in Ashville N.C. The local TU chapter had set up a rummage table and I got a great deal. It is like new.

I have to agree What the Trout Said is a must have.If I travel(fishing) the book is always in my trailer. Mine is a cherished copy as it was given by Datus to my friend Catskill Bill Kelly who in turn passed it on to me before his departure.

1130180850a.jpg The Dotterel Blow tied on Daiichi 1480 hooks size 12, 14, and 16. I think that this picture represents reasonable North Country Fly proportions. The hackle on this fly calls for Dotterel.This is unobtainable for me. I substituted a inner covert feather from a pair of Asian Jay wings...

They are wall hangers. In 40 years of pursuing this sport I cannot think of a time when a full dress Jock Scott would have saved the day.

Bill in the fly tying world that is known as free lancing. Indeed in competions they have catagories that are named this. I have known artists of stature i.e. Artists,illustrators,musicians that tie flies. With that said there could be individuals who are artists dealing in hooks,feathers and furs. ...

I think the best Catskill style tiers tiers are Mike Valla,Dave Brandt,Mary Dette and Ed Van Put. The very best ever was Walt Dette. Rube Cross and the Darbees are right up there to. Now that I am thinking about it David Stentrom and Niklas Dahlin from Europe are pretty good to. Oh hell there are a ...
